In 2012, when the owners of NALC, Meredith and Chad Brown, started thinking about opening a new childcare center in our area, I was ecstatic! Meredith and Chad had one child in daycare at the time and had another on the way. They wanted to provide a top quality facility for not only their two children, but for all children in our local and surrounding communities. We spent many nights/hours pre-planning before moving forward. We explored every possibility to ensure that we made the best choices that we could. We began looking for a building. We even looked at homes and thought about starting small. When we found the building on Hale Street in Oxford, we just knew that it was meant to be. On April 22, 2013, Meredith and Chad Brown closed on the building that would soon become New Adventures Learning Center.
We instantly began renovations! We started tearing down walls, throwing out trash, taking out counter tops, etc. Meredith and Chad had plans to make this building into a classy, yet kid-friendly facility that was a clean and safe environment. Renovations of the building continued, yet we legally could not tell anyone about our facility. Since we would be an Alabama DHR Licensed facility, you cannot advertise prior to receiving your License, however you cannot get your License until you are completely ready to open with all renovations finished, supplies and furniture set up,staff hired, DHR requirements met, etc.
With renovations almost finished, we called our DHR Licenser and set up our inspection date. We worked diligently on getting all the final touches done and classrooms set up for inspection. I will never forgot the day that I took Meredith for her first and only trip to Davie's School Supply to get supplies for the classrooms. The look on her face was so funny when she walked in and saw everything that you can get at Davies. She felt that we needed one of everything!
On July 19, 2013 at 9:00 am, our DHR Licenser came to our facility and did her thorough inspection. We passed with flying colors and had no deficiencies to fix. We received our License that day for 59 children.

We have been unbelievably blessed since then. We are now licensed for 100 children and almost full! We have an amazing staff and equally amazing families who trust us every day to care for their children. We look forward to many more years of serving our current and future families!
